Not legal advice. Plainly rewrites text in plainer English so you can read it faster. It is not a lawyer, is not a substitute for one, and nothing it produces — including anything labelled "opinion" or a summary — is legal, financial, tax, or professional advice. Do not rely on Plainly for any decision with real legal or financial consequences without checking with a qualified professional first.

1. What Plainly is

Plainly is a tool that rewrites text you provide into plainer English, for your own reading convenience. It offers three ways to do this: a free, fully local rewriter that never leaves your device; a paid "Sharper" tier that sends your text to Plainly's server for a more capable rewrite; and a "bring your own key" mode where your text goes directly from your device to Anthropic using your own API key.

2. Accounts and payment

Sharper is a flat monthly subscription billed through Stripe. We never see or store your card details — Stripe handles that directly. You can cancel any time; access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for, and your subscription status is checked live on every use, so a cancelled subscription stops working immediately rather than on some delayed schedule.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Copy, scrape, decompile, or reverse-engineer Plainly's paid-tier service or its underlying code beyond what's needed for your own personal use of the product as intended;
Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to Plainly without our prior written agreement;
Use Plainly to process text you don't have the right to process, or in a way that breaks the law;
Attempt to circumvent the subscription check on the Sharper tier.

4. Your content

You keep all rights to whatever text you paste into Plainly. For the free tier, nothing you paste ever leaves your device. For Sharper, your text is sent to our server and to Anthropic solely to generate the rewrite, and is not stored after the request completes or used to train any model. For BYOK, your text goes directly from your browser to Anthropic under your own account and its terms.

5. No warranty, limitation of liability

Plainly is provided "as is." Rewrites can be wrong, incomplete, or miss nuance — especially the free tier, which is a simple rule-based rewriter, not an AI model. To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not liable for decisions made based on Plainly's output, or for any indirect or consequential loss.

6. Changes and termination

We may update these terms or the service itself from time to time; continued use after a change means you accept the update. We may suspend access for misuse of the kind described in Section 3.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Gibraltar.
